At Sluppen, Trondheim, HUS Architects, commissioned by Kjeldsberg in collaboration with Veidekke, completed the ALO new office building in April 2024.

ALO spans approximately 15,000 square metres across seven storeys and is built adjacent to an existing office building, enhancing its usability and attractiveness.

The ALO office building has been classified with the highest levels of environmental and health-promoting certifications, achieving BREEAM NOR Outstanding and WELL Platinum. The project was nominated for both the BREEAM Award and the Norwegian Betongtavlen (Concreteboard), receiving an honourable mention from the Betongtavlen jury for both the outcome and the process.

The office building in Trondheim impressed the Betongtavlen jury as an exemplary model of innovation in concrete usage and a benchmark for collaboration between the client, architect, structural engineer, contractor, and concrete supplier to achieve ambitious climate goals.

Flexibility and lifespan considerations were key for the client, and the architect and consulting engineer designed a modern and forward-looking office building with an open and airy interior atmosphere.

HUS Architects experience

HUS has been engaged as the architect and principal applicant throughout the entire project, from development phase through to collaboration, preliminary design, detailed design, and tenant involvement.

The landscaping creates new connections and recreational areas in the region, which are planted to support biodiversity and urban ecology while providing welcoming spaces for people.

ALO has a distinctive architecture that harmonises well with the surrounding buildings and the future urban environment of Sluppen.

The architecture aims to instil a sense of pride among the building’s users, encouraging them to welcome clients and partners “home” to their workplace.

The building’s atrium visually connects its various tenants while allowing ample daylight into the building’s core, enhancing well-being and providing a clear and inviting environment for meetings in staircases and communal areas.

HUS Arkitekter has been an Eco-Lighthouse certified company since 2011.
